David Hornell Junior School is located in the community of Mimico, in the southeastern part of the former Etobicoke, very close to Lake Ontario. The school was built in 1961 by the Lakeshore District School Board, which was eventually amalgamated into the Etobicoke Board of Education, now part of the Toronto District School Board.
