Overview | Location

The Guinness Book of World Records hails it as the biggest underground shopping complex in the world. This underground walkway links 16 miles shopping, services and entertainment.  PATH has over 1200 shops and services; more than 50 buildings/office towers are connected through PATH.

  • 20 parking garages
  • 5 subway stations
  • 2 major department stores
  • 6 major hotels
  • And a railway terminal are also accessible through PATH

It also provides links to some of Toronto's major tourist and entertainment attractions. City Hall and Metro Hall are connected through PATH.

PATH was built in the 1960s, partly to give office workers a break from the harsh winters, partly to make way to build new above ground skyscrapers. You can walk from Union Station to the Fairmont Royal York hotel, the Toronto-Dominion Centre, First Canadian Place, the Sheraton Center, the Bay, Eaton Centre, and City Hall without ever surfacing.
