A trip to the zoo makes any day special; but a day spent at the
amazing Toronto Zoo is one you will never forget. One of the largest
zoos in the world, there are more than 5000 animals representing
just over 450 species at the Toronto Zoo.
Four large tropical indoor pavilions and several smaller indoor
viewing areas, plus numerous outdoor exhibits compose 710 acres
which can be explored on walking trails. The climate-controlled
pavilions, such as the African pavilion, give you a first-hand
look at animals and vegetation unique to that part of the world.
An ‘Around the World’ tour takes approximately 3
hours and includes the Africa, Americas, Australasia, and Indo-Malayan
pavilions. The African Savanna is a dynamic reproduction of beautiful
animals and rugged geographic landscapes. In the summertime the
Zoomobile can take you through the outdoor exhibit area, if you
prefer not to use the walking trails. If you make reservations
ahead, you can sleep overnight in the Bush Camp! The Zoo is a
30-minute drive east from downtown.
